Revitalizing Our Communities

Geographic location or socioeconomic status should not define whether or not a person has access to green space, economic opportunity, or a robust education. Revitalizing communities through investments in infrastructure, community programs, and economic development is imperative to creating equitable communities in which people want to raise their families and give back.

Legislative Wins

Allocated over $5.2 billion in fiscal 2022 capital funding that will support thousands of infrastructure jobs and will support the development of vital community projects like museums, recreation centers, hospitals, cultural centers, and theaters.

Enacted the Recovery for the Economy, Livelihoods, Industries, Entrepreneurs and Families (RELIEF) Act to provide emergency economic support for neighborhood revitalization, housing, and rental assistance programs during the pandemic.

Bolstered funding for strategic investments in housing and businesses in neighborhoods most in need under the Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative Program and the National Capital Strategic Economic Development Program.

Prioritized innovative revitalization efforts by creating the West North Avenue Development Authority and by expanding the Neighborhood Business Development Program.

Established the Maryland Arts Capital Grant Program to award grants to small and growing community arts organizations.
